If you would like to have something made, please feel free to contact me. I don't charge more for custom work. For items similar to what you see on my site, my prices are pretty standard. I may charge more for new designs (like when someone asks, "Can you do something with a dragon?") due to the time it takes figuring out how to make it work with the clay. When ordering, be aware I'm going to give you all kinds of options: |
Colored Clay This usually entails green clay for leaves and vines, with just about any possible colors for roses or butterflies or such. After baked, I darken the clay with black acrylic, then remove surface paint by rubbing. This leaves the crevices darkened to give the item a more three dimensional look. Black Clay with Mica Powder All the clay used for the item is black. After it is complete (but before baking), I color the clay by pressing in mica powder. Mica powder comes in a lovely range of metallic colors. |
Carved boxes start with a wood base, which I then cover with a layer of clay. The clay is then either carved 'in' or 'out'. In some cases the method can be selected by the buyer, other times I will decide due to which the selected design lends itself to. Sometimes a combination of both methods is used. |
Type of Glass In general, it's easiest to just select glasses from my picture of available glasses. However it is not always completely up to date, plus I am often willing to go out and look for a certain type of requested glass. Above you can see the basic types of glasses I tend to use. |

Carved In The clay is pushed in and the design is made up of simple lines. For Celtic knotwork, this means the line is the knot. Carved Out I removed the clay that makes up the negative space and the image is left in relief. For Celtic knotwork this means the lines define the edge of the knot, and the knot stands up in relief. |

Leaves Glasses can be all leaves, or leaves and roses. With roses I usually use either a flat leaf (seen in most pictures throughout my site) or a three pronged ivy leaf. I have also made glasses with oak leaves and holly leaves. |

Roses I recently changed the style of my roses. My old style roses are more simple and stylized. My new roses are more realistic looking with individual petals. |

Base Small rose bud can be added to the base of the glass upon request, otherwise I just do vines and small leaves. |

New Style Roses Purple Colored Clay (with a little mica), Silver Mica, and Copper Red Mica Powder |
Glass Color Again, the quickest and easiest way to select color is from my picture of available glasses, but I am happy to do some hunting. Clear glasses are always pretty easy to find, but colors tend to be seasonal (usually around Christmas). Some colors are easier to find year round then others, such as blue. If you want a color you don't see pictured, just ask! I may know offhand if I can get it, or how hard it will be to find. |
